Since the pandemic, the client’s wishes evolved a lot. The lockdowns developed the need of freedom and more clients tend to discover more of our world and to visit more extreme areas. One of the main idea was to design this yacht in order to bring scientists to Antartica when the owners are not on board. That’s why this yacht has equipment such as laboratory for scientific expedition but also jacuzzi to enjoy the sun in tropical areas.

Knowing that this yacht is design in a more environmentally friendly way because main idea is to provide a vessel for scientists when the owners are not using their yacht, it was important to do extreme choices regarding the materials. This is why the decks are not covered with traditional teak but with solar pannels in order to capture as much green energy as possible to power electronic devices on board. All the visible wooden elements on this yacht are not made out of real wood but of recontructed teak from the wood waste. Visually the appearance is exactly the same as real teak.Since the main idea was to use the yacht in Antarctica, the hull had to be white in order to avoid disturbing the fauna with garish colors.
The main idea was to design a yacht with two different faces with a surfaces treatment that is completely different between the hull and the superstructure. Indeed, the hull, quite raw and edgy, accentuates the explorer side of this yacht to remain that this yacht is capable of going to extreme zones. Currently the explorer yachts are not really esthetically appealing that’s why I decided to work the superstructure as a sophisticated part of this yacht. This part is much smoother and the surfaces are inspired by the animal world creating an organic element floating on top the hull. The main idea was to bring sophistication and elegance in an explorer yacht.
